What Changed



In November 2024, Alaska voters approved Ballot Measure 1, which mandates an annual minimum wage increase beginning in 2025. Effective July 1, 2025, the Alaska minimum wage will increase from $11.91 to $13.00 per hour. The law also institutes a mandatory sick leave provision statewide. 



Key Details Included in the Notice: 




  • The minimum wage in Alaska is set to rise to $13.00 per hour starting July 1, 2025, requiring annual adjustments every July based on inflation. 


  • Also, effective July 1, 2025, Alaska will require employers to provide paid sick leave to employees.  


  • Employers must maintain payroll records and sick leave documentation for a minimum of three years.  


  • Employers must update payroll systems and contracts to reflect the July 1, 2025, minimum wage increase.  


  • Businesses must update their employee handbooks and internal policies to ensure compliance with the new sick leave law.
