Poster Update Log: Indiana Poster Update
Overview
- Indiana has updated its youth employment laws, removing work restrictions for 16- and 17-year-olds.
- Employers must update posters and remain compliant with Indiana’s youth employment requirements.
What Changed
Previously, 16- and 17-year-olds faced restrictions on working hours, days, and required parental permission for extended shifts. Under the new rules, these restrictions have been lifted:
- 16- and 17-year-olds may now work the same hours and days as adults.
- No parental permission is required for 16- and 17-year-olds to work longer or later hours.
- 14- and 15-year-olds remain under federal hour and day restrictions, but may now work until 9:00 PM on any day between June 1st and Labor Day. (Some exceptions may apply. Please see Indiana DOL Youth Employment or refer to Indiana Code 22-2-18.1-16.)
