What Changed
Previously, serious violations carried a proposed penalty of up to $7,000, with daily fines for uncorrected violations also capped at $7,000. Willful or repeated violations were subject to a maximum penalty of $70,000. Under the new rules, all three categories have seen substantial increases:
- Serious violations now carry a maximum penalty of $16,131.
- Failure to correct or abate a violation may result in additional daily penalties of up to $16,131.
- Willful or repeated violations may be assessed up to $161,323 per instance.
