What's Changed
Louisiana Earned Income Credit Notice
In July 2024, Louisiana implemented an important update to its Earned Income Credit (EIC) program, aligning the state’s credit with recent federal adjustments. The EIC is a refundable tax credit aimed at supporting low- to moderate-income working individuals and families. This mandatory update increases the amount eligible taxpayers can claim, providing greater financial relief.
An employer should inform an employee whose anticipated wages are $60,000 or less annually of the potential availability of the Federal EIC at the time of hiring. Employees may be eligible for the EIC if their 2024 earned income and adjusted gross income (AGI) are each less than the stated amount based on tax filing status and whether the employee has any qualifying children.
For more information regarding the EITC or to check on updates, contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 or visit the IRS website at www.irs.gov.
Louisiana Minor Labor Law Placard
The mandated posting has been updated to reflect a change in the State child labor law made by House Bill 156 requiring 30-minute meal periods only for minors under the age of 16.
Businesses employing minors are required to conspicuously display the Louisiana Minor Labor Law within the establishment.
